Well, it's hard to honestly talk about race when people are so quick to label someone a racist for doing so. Thus why people usually begin sentences with such trite openings. If we were truly open-minded as a society, we would be less hostile towards people who want to discuss the unpleasant truths behind race, or any other demographic.

Truer words have never been spoken. I was seriously thinking of that exact thing all day. If you start a sentence with "I'm not racist but..." just... stop.
