Religion is naught but another form of control for Capitalists.

It seems that, in all organized religion, forgiveness and salvation of the soul always has a price tag attached to it.

Buy this. Buy that. Donate. Tithe. Watch this DVD. Please Subscrie. Blah blah blah.

Jesus - had he existed - would have more in common with the Aetheist than the christian these days.

Opinion only. Trolls Be Gone.

Actually true Christians don't believe that bullshit. Now back in the middle ages your whole BAWW thing would make sense considering people actually did have to pay for forgiveness. Now (at least for Catholics) once simply go to confession, confess their sins, get forgiven, do some prayers. I've never heard anyone say that you must buy something to be forgiven,

I completely agree there -_-; though I haven't really met any bad Christians yet ...

I remember my church decided that they would go all Green and be Environmentally Friendly, then spent months in their meetings discussing whether they should install lights around the church. They were discussing those really bright lamps that really light up the church, you know, the ones that consume loads of energy (1500 watts bulb?), the ones that aren't very green at all. And their reason for this? Well basically one guy saw a cathedral being lit up like that, and liked the idea that there could be a light to 'sanctuary', a way to be closer to God - a pathetic excuse to just show off the church in a pathetically small village. It was a completely ridiculous idea - so expensive, hardly useful and hardly environmentally friendly. Yet they spent months considering this!

And then all those Catholic priests abusing the kids...oh God must be pleased with them.

I don't like religion...everything is so complicated...what happened to "be a good person"? "dont kill cheat or lie"? its gotten to a point where if you dont agree with someone, you'll be told your going to hell. its not right...

Definitely! I'm thinking of going Buddhist, which isn't so organised as, say Christianity, but it costs to attend ceremonies/meditations at the local centre! Not a very Buddhist way about them, is there?

Nevertheless. I still see Buddhists in the street trying to sell me incense sticks and books. While it is not a Religion, it's still a form of capitalism.

What people fail to realise is you don't NEED to be anything. You just need to be true to your own ideals. If your own ideals are a lot like those of a buddhist, go with it - but you don't need to be a buddhist. Religions and Philosophies are just designed to keep people separate and thinking differently.

Definitely. Very consumerist. Which is not actually what they aim for . . . All you need for Buddhism is a place to sit. :)

I just feel like my ideals go well with Buddhism. But I don't feel the need to conform. Private Anglican school scared me off that1

Amen. Personally, I am religious in a way, but I'm pagan. I can't stand Christians personally, except the ones who are smart. ((Like my friends.)) All they want is money and people to believe EXACTLY what they believe. They trick people in by saying, "Nope, you're only getting to heaven if you believe this and this." "...Doesn't God love everyone?" "Only people who believe this!" It's so stupid.

Paganism is just as guilty. My mom wants to be a druid and spents 100's of pounds on books and stuff for a
'course' which teaches. Just more capitalism.

True. That's why I don't buy anything. I avoid buying anything that has to do with religion. We shouldn't have to pay to be religious. Course, I'm so close to being agnostic, I probably wouldn't buy anything anyways. Well, outside of studying ancient religions that have all but died out. ((Greek mythology.<3))
